I heard Bruno Mars' "Young Wild Girls" track off his new album, Unorthodox Jukebox, the other day and I just fell in love with the melody. It's just unfortunate that the lyrics are about womanizing. I thought the song would sound a lot better if it spoke of (pardon my cheesiness) lost love. *sob*
So here's my own romanticized version of the lyrics of the song. Please be kind and don't shoot me in the head when you get to the end. :D
"My Long Gone Boy"
(Sung to the melody of Bruno Mars' "Young Wild Girls")
I spent most of my time
Lookin' for someone new
I was tired of all the cryin'
I thought it's the best thing to do
We were no longer happy
We were fightin' all the time
Oh darlin', ain't it funny
It's ourselves we couldn't fight
But when I find myself alone
I realize that all along, all along
Chorus:
Oh my long gone boy
You were the one for me
Oh my long gone boy
You brought out the best in me
The best in me
Oh my long gone boy
I'm telling you the truth
Oh my long gone boy
I'll always come home to you
Come home to you
We survived so many trials
And they tried to break us down
But we never lost the fire
They never got to put it out
So I still wonder what went wrong
Cause we had love that was so strong
Should we have ceased
After our first kiss?
That I don't know
I don't know
Just when I thought that I've moved on
I realize that all along, all along
Chorus:
Oh my long gone boy
You were the one for me
Oh my long gone boy
You brought out the best in me
The best in me
Oh my long gone boy
I'm telling you the truth
Oh my long gone boy
I'll always come home to you
Come home to you
You, you, you
You, you, you
Oh my long gone boy
You will always be
My Olongapo boy (haha)
Who taught me how to live, you set me free
Oh my long gone boy
I must embrace my truth
That my long gone boy
Will never come back to me, come back to me
Oh you
